Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday got into a spat with youth who were protesting outside his residence in Agartala, after they blocked his vehicle. The protesters were demanding that the BJP government fulfil its promise of providing employment.
“By protesting, you cannot do anything,” a visibly angry Mr. Nath told the youth. Finally, the police stepped in to make way for the car to leave the locality of Krishnanagar.
Residents have named the area Tripura’s “Jantar Mantar” as most of the protests for jobs, ever since the BJP government was installed in 2018, have occurred on the road outside Mr. Nath’s residence.
Mr. Nath is also facing the heat for not fulfilling commitments he had made on employment.
Last month, police lathicharged protesters and the action was met with widespread condemnation.
