The Saturday Morning Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Development Program commenced its 2023 programming on January 14 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia.
Castries, Saint Lucia: The Saturday Morning Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Development Program commenced its 2023 programming on January 14 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia.
The session was well attended, with seventy six (76) young cricketers enjoying the 4-hour-long training session in Saint Lucia.
The activities took the following format:
* Prayers/ Welcome/ Introductions etc.
* Warm-up activities; Flexibility/ Agility/ Catching games.
* Physical Conditioning; focus on the core area.
* Catching/ Fielding drills and exercises.
* Nets.
* Target bowling.
* Introduction to hard ball with younger participants including Fielding, Catching and Batting age group 4-10 years.
* Mini cricket match.
The coaches who conducted the training session were; Alton Crafton, Allian Ashby, Mateo Boulogne and Malika Edward.
The logistical support was done by Roseline Preville, Afra Forde and Thomas Elcock.

The St Andrew’s University from the UK ended their tour of St Lucia with crushing 10 wicket loss from the Northern Cluster Grassroots representative team at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on Tuesday January 10, 2023.
The St. Andrew’s University won the toss and elected to bat could only muster 37 all out in 12.2 overs. Prodyun Vaswani was the only batsman to reach double figures with 13.
The bowling for the Northern Cluster Grassroots team was lead by a four wicket haul for Lee John who took 4 for 14 in his 4 overs, Bolton Sayers 3 for 2 in 1.2 overs, Jeandell Cyril 2 for 6 in 2 overs and one wicket to Tori Hippolyte.
In reply the Northern Cluster Grassroots team cruised to victory making 40 without loss in 5 overs. The batsmen at the crease were Khan Elcock 25 not out and Ryan Goodman 3 not out.
