Japan’s ambassador to Australia, Shingo Yamagami, says he witnessed his passion for fast trains between Brisbane and Melbourne during meetings in Japan in May.
The ambassador said high-speed rail will revolutionise Australia both socially and economically, transforming Canberra into a global tourist attraction.
The initial focus is upgrading rail infrastructure between Newcastle and Sydney.
