The House of Representatives approved in an extraordinary session on Saturday the appointment of Reda Hegazy as Minister of Education in the latest reshuffle in Mostafa Madbouly’s Cabinet.
Hegazy — whose last post was deputy minister of education for teachers’ affairs — holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction Management from Mansoura University and worked as a professor in the Training and Media Department at the National Centre for Examinations and Educational Evaluation for Secondary Schools in Daqahleya.
Before that, he was a science teacher, a secondary school chemistry teacher, an assistant teacher at the National Centre for Examinations and Educational Evaluation, and then a teacher at the same centre.
Furthermore, Hegazy held several leadership positions, starting with director of the Adult Education Centre in Sars Al-Layan, VP of the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education, deputy director of the Professional Academy for Teachers, and then head of the Public Education Sector, until he assumed the position of general head of high school examinations for three years.
Hegazy is succeeding Tarek Shawky, who accomplished several achievements within the country’s education system, starting with building a new education system, and even digitising the method of instruction and examination process for more than 2,500 public high schools across the country.
