Australia will return to India for a Test series for the first time since 2017, with the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy up for grabs.
After going down to India in their last three meetings, the in-form Aussies will look to regain the trophy and claim their first series win in the sub-continent nation since 2005.
Pat Cummins will lead the Aussies for the tour, while the likes of Virat Kohli and a returning Jasprit Bumrah will likely be in action for India.
Australia last played India in a Test series during their home summer of 2020/21.
India took out the four-game series 2-1, with Ajinkya Rahane leading the side to victory.
India have the wood over Australia in Test cricket, winning nine of the past 15 series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
While a lot of their wins have come in the favourable conditions at home, India have also won the past two series Down Under in both 2018/19 and 2020/21.
Since its official inception in 1996, India have held the trophy for the majority of the time, with the Aussies last gaining possession of it back in 2015.
