Tymal Mills signs Sussex contract extension – The Cricketer

Mills, 30, has put pen to paper on fresh terms in Hove which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2024 season

Tymal Mills is set for a decade as a Sussex Shark after signing a contract extension on the south coast.
Mills, 30, has put pen to paper on fresh terms in Hove which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2024 season.
That will be his 10th at Sussex, by which time he may have become the county’s record T20 wicket-taker: Mills is 11 shy of the current incumbent, Will Beer.

“Although I only play T20 I see myself as a full time Sussex player, I live in Hove, I’m raising my children here and there’s nowhere else I see myself playing cricket,” he said.
“I’m really excited for the immediate future working with and playing under Paul Farbrace. The chats I’ve had with him so far and the speed at which this contract extension was offered and delivered makes me feel valued at the club moving forward.”
Mills is currently in the UAE, where he is in the Desert Vipers squad for the inaugural International League T20.
He pulled out of a stint in the Big Bash with Perth Scorchers earlier this winter after his two-year-old daughter suffered a stroke. She has since made a recovery.

At his best one of the best death bowlers on the franchise circuit, Mills has vast experience of the format across the world. He has won 13 England caps.
“He always encourages our bowlers and players in the T20 squad and he is a fantastic example and standard-bearer for our team,” Sussex head coach James Kirtley said.
“He is a highly respected, well-regarded player around the world, and we are lucky to have him here at Sussex.”
