SAUGHALL, U.K.—Inveterate deal maker Lex Greensill has another project to sell: convincing neighbors that he can revitalize a patch of northern England by planting 100,000 trees.
The financier is best known for his disastrous bid to reinvent the dull-but-important business of supply-chain finance, through the now-bankrupt Greensill Capital. The business imploded nearly two years ago, spawning a thicket of
regulatory investigations, scrutiny of his political ties, accusations of fraud and headaches for partners such as Credit Suisse Group AG.
