Melbourne Stars and Adelaide Strikers will go head to head against each other in the 38th league match of the Big Bash League 2022-23 season. The Stars are at the bottom of the table, and they will aim to improve their performances on their home ground.
With just 2 wins in 9 games, the Stars are on the verge of getting knocked out of the tournament. This team has struggled throughout the tournament, and every match from now on is a do-or-die for them. It is looking very tough for the Melbourne Stars to qualify for the playoffs.
Adelaide Strikers have won five of their nine matches, and they are in brilliant form. Matthew Short is their most important player, and he has contributed with both and ball, whereas Chris Lynn is also in a smashing form. After Rashid Khan’s exit, the bowling of the side has got affected a little.
The track at the Melbourne Cricket Ground is one of the best tracks to play T20 cricket in Australia as it has offered support to both batters and bowlers. This track has been a good one for the batters, as once set, they can covert their score into big totals, whereas the bigger boundaries aid the batters.
A total of 3 BBL 12 games have been played here, where the average 1st innings score has been 166 runs. It is clear that the pacers have done reasonably well here, and they have got support from the pitch as well. In the initial overs of the game, the pacers will again play a vital part.
This is a very good track to bat on as well, and the batters will definitely enjoy it here. In the middle overs, the spinners can be crucial as well. Overall, its a balance track, and anything above 175 runs can be a par score. This is a track where batting first after winning the toss is not a bad idea.
