Seminar on employability through skill based quality education held – Morung Express

Kohima, December 11 (MExN): A seminar on employability through skill based quality education in higher education was held at Japfü Christian College on December 9. It is an extension initiative to the 2022 Annual Conference of Nagaland College Principal Association, stated a press release received here. 
Professor Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Lumami, in his keynote speech addressed the practicality and inevitability of NEP 2020 and the need to prepare in line with the demand of market and society. 
Dr I Wati Imchen, Principal, Fazil Ali College, Mokokchung the resource person, envisioned incorporating and designing syllabus and courses based on Naga Indigenous skills and knowledge- Naga values and norms, Naga Cuisine, Naga Dance and Music, Organic farming –  in his paper, ‘Blending Naga indigenous knowledge in higher education.’ He also stressed on the need of such designs to be cost effective. 
Dr Lily Sema, Additional Director, Department of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland exhorted the house while also delivering the concluding remarks. Dr Lily Sema congratulated the University for implementing the Choice Based Credit System and expressed hope for the Academic bank of Credits to be introduced soon. The seminar was followed by business session. 
The programme was organised in collaboration with the IQAC, Japfü Christian College and NSCW, Nagaland State Commission for Women, Government of Nagaland.
