PRINCE GEORGE – It appears the Ministry of Education will continue to watch School District 57 very closely.
BC’s new Minister of Education Rachna Singh said SD57 is very high on her list of priorities.
“I’m really looking forward to making my tours to go to different parts and Prince George is one of my top priorities,” said Singh. “I’m very cognisant of the fact that we are often based in the Lower Mainland.. but we know communities in the north have their unique issues and unique challenges.”
Singh was given the education portfolio in Premier David Eby’s first cabinet, taking the reigns from Jennifer Whiteside who held the position since 2020.
“Those are some pretty big words, so I’d like to see some action on that,” said Rachael Weber, Chair of the SD57 Board of Education.
Whiteside visited Prince George once during her time as BC’s Minister of Education.
Singh said the dates of her first visit to SD57 are currently being worked on.
