ISLAMABAD, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) — The New Zealand men’s cricket team on Thursday reached Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi to play a two-match Test series against the hosts starting later this month.
According to the schedule issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the two sides will play two Tests in the cities of Karachi and Multan respectively commencing on December 26, followed by three One-day International encounters in Karachi.
Earlier on Wednesday, the PCB announced the country’s 16-player squad for the series against New Zealand by recalling fast bowler Hasan Ali and picking uncapped middle-order batsman Kamran Ghulam.
Pakistan’s top fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is not selected due to the knee injury he suffered during the 2022 Twenty20 World Cup final earlier this year. Fast bowler Naseem Shah has won his place back in the side after proving his fitness.
Fast bowlers Mohammad Ali and bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who were in the squad for the series against England, have been dropped and asked to participate in the ongoing domestic tournament. ■
