The University of Lynchburg’s Master of Business Administration was ranked among the best online master’s programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report. The 2023 list places Lynchburg’s MBA 215th out of 366 institutions.
“While we don’t specifically structure the MBA program to excel in rankings, we’re incredibly delighted when such prestigious ranking bodies as U.S. News & World Report recognize our achievements,” said Dr. Nancy Hubbard, dean of the College of Business.
“The professors who teach in the MBA program are all exemplary, and the small class sizes mean you can get the individualized attention that ensures success. Having it structured for maximum personal flexibility has also been much appreciated by our students.”
The 2023 online rankings are designed for students who need that flexibility to complete their bachelor’s or master’s degrees. In total, U.S. News ranked eight bachelor’s and 44 master’s programs at accredited universities in Virginia. More than 1,800 programs were evaluated — a record. Of those, 1,730 were ranked.
“Highly ranked programs have strong traditional academic foundations based on the excellence of entering students, graduation rates, and instructor credentials,” according to U.S. News. “They also excel at educating distance learners while providing robust career and financial support.”
Key categories considered in the rankings include Engagement (30%), Expert Opinion (25%), Faculty Credentials and Training (15%), Services and Technologies (15%), and Student Excellence (15%).
As with all rankings, this list “should be just one element of your search,” noted U.S. News’ lead data analyst Eric Brooks when explaining the methodology. He added that students should also look at “characteristics about academic offerings, requirements, costs of attending, and more.”
