Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has revealed he met with the Italian PM to talk about about Prosecco and the naming dispute.
The European Union wants to protect the naming rights of Prosecco – which is part of a $200m market made in Australia.
"We know that in terms of the agricultural sector in particular with nations such as France and Italy, they have been very protective of particular labels of products," he told Question Time.
"But the truth is that Prosecco is a product that is produced not just in Italy, just like roses are grown in lots of places around the world and they're still roses.
"We will advance Australia's national interest and negotiate in good faith with the European Union and I'm hopeful that the European Commission will send their leaders Ursula and Charles out here next year."
A man has been arrested in jail after a woman was allegedly threatened with a meat cleaver and sexually assaulted inside her own bedroom.
A 26-year-old was at home in Auburn in Sydney's west about 6.40pm on Friday when a stranger entered her unit.
It's alleged the man went into the kitchen, grabbed a meat cleaver, and then went into the woman's bedroom where he found her alone.
Police will also allege he then "assaulted her a number of times and hit her in the back of the head multiple times with the handle of the meat cleaver, before he sexually assaulted her".

Authorities have issued a warning to gardeners after a woman in her 60s died from Legionnaires' disease in Sydney.
NSW Health said the woman died this week from the disease, which can be found in potting mix and soils.
It warned gardeners to wear face masks and gloves when handling soil, and to wash their hands afterwards.
There have been 96 cases of Legionnaires' disease so far this year from bacteria be found in potting mix, NSW Health said.
Legionella longbeachae bacteria is often found in the soil and can cause the lung infection.
NSW Health Executive Director, Dr Jeremy McAnulty, said it's mainly a hazard for older people
''Most people who breathe in the bacteria don't become ill, but the risk of infection increases if you're older, a smoker, or have a weakened immune system," Dr McAnulty said.
"Wetting the potting mix first also helps prevent any contaminated potting mix dust blowing up into the air and being inhaled.
"Even if you've been wearing gloves, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap before eating or drinking as the bacteria could still be there."
Symptoms of Legionnaires' disease can develop up to 10 days after exposure
Symptoms include fever, chills, a cough, shortness of breath, aching muscles, headache, tiredness, loss of appetite and diarrhoea.
