Australian Republic Movement Chair Craig Foster says the Australian public had an affinity with Queen Elizabeth II over “many generations”.
“Once that era moved on, it’s clear to everyone that really none of us feel connected to Charles,” he told commentator Steve Price.
“In the run-up to the coronation … is really the window when Australia has an opportunity to have this conversation about why do we still have these things.
“The majority of Australians want to move on and have a republic.”
