Nabarangpur, Dec 18: Education and skill development are an alternative for driving development in Nabanangpur district, said Union Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister  Dharmendra Pradhan here on Sunday.
Pradhan was addressing golden jubilee celebrations of the Nabarangpur College.
“Education and skill development are an alternative for development of Nabanangpur district,” the Union Minister said and assured that the Union Government will provide all support to the Nabarangpur College to fulfil its requirements and aspirations.
He suggested to the Odisha Government to formally declare the Nabarangpur College as a Government institution.
“Once the college is declared a Government institution, tribal students will benefit much,” he claimed.
He asserted that the New Education Policy gives priority on imparting education in local language and mother-tongue as well.
“One can reach new heights in life if he gets education is imparted in his mother-tongue,” he said.
He said development of a state and a country is very complementary to growth of a district.
On the occasion, he remembered how a youth, Srikant Sahu, belonging to a poor family of Jharigaon emerged as topper in the All-India Skill Competition and is currently working in the automobile section of the Ministry of Defence.  
Stating that Nabarangpur is an Aspirational District, Pradhan said life, aspiration and heartbeat of Nabarangpur is conjoined with the college, which has helped thousands of tribal students fulfil their aims and objectives in the last 50 years.
Pradhan conveyed his warm greetings to the Old Boys Association and all those connected with the college.
On this occasion, Manisha Panda, a Plus III First Year student of the college, gifted a marvellous traditional painting to Pradhan. Commenting on the Manisha’s skill, Pradhan said her talent will certainly inspire the youth mass in enhancing their creativity.
