Education ministry will consider all suggestions with open mind, says the minister
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Monday said that a vested quarter is trying to make issues by relying on the new curriculum and textbooks to oust Sheikh Hasina's government without getting any issue.
The minister made this comment in her speech to the chief guest at the inauguration of the primary level teacher training program at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital.
“What they are saying about textbooks is a lie. That cannot be accepted. The errors found so far have been corrected and sent to the educational institution. The rest of the books are open to all. Everyone has an opinion. Opinions which are reasonable will be accepted,” said Dr Dipu Moni.
She said: “I am very grateful to everyone and I am happy that all the people of the country are reading textbooks along with the officials of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Education and Boards of Education. I want them to look at it more closely. As much constructive criticism and suggestions as possible, we will consider all suggestions with an open mind. Modifications, alterations, refinements will be made where logical. I am saying this with responsibility.”
Dipu Moni said that some people have started criticizing with hatred and non-political violence after hearing what someone said without reading or seeing the book.
“They want this government not to exist. What is the need of Smart Bangladesh? They want Pakistan. One such group says that there is no Islam in the new book, what is there is anti-Islam. There are books around you and on the NCTB website, check them out,” she said.
The education minister also said: “Our books this year have been made with the advice of teachers, parents-students, educators, scientists, psychologists. We are human beings. There may be mistakes. About 350 million books are printed, this is a huge undertaking. Last year there was power problem and paper shortage.”
“Various issues have to be resolved with the publishers as well. Where there is a mistake, where it is caught – we will correct all its logical mistakes. But those who lie will not be accepted,” said Dipu Moni.
She also stated that no lies and propaganda will be tolerated.
Pointing out that criticism is being raised about books of class 9-10, the education minister said: "This is being caught after 10 years. It has been revised by an eminent educationist of the country. It has been corrected in three phases but the error remains. It has now been corrected. '
The Education Minister urged the media to disseminate responsible news.
