‘Did it easy’: Thunder avoid humiliation repeat but Strikers win comfortably in Adelaide – Fox Sports

The Adelaide Strikers have extended their unbeaten start to the season and made it six straight wins at home after dispatching the Sydney Thunder by six wickets.
The Thunder have bounced back from their humiliating 15 all out against the Strikers last Friday to post a competitive 5-149 in their rematch.

But it proved light work as they cruised to 1-83 after 10 overs and then got home comfortably with eight balls to spare at 4-151.

Matt Short (65), Chris Lynne (28) and Adam Hose (28 not out) did the job to keep Adelaide on top of the ladder after three games.

The visitors elected to bat at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday night and English superstar Alex Hales went straight to work.
Hales (68 off 50 balls) exploded out of the blocks before Oliver Davies (42 off 30 balls) also chipped in for the Thunder.
Hales blasted a huge six in the third over, comfortably clearing the rope before doing it again the next over off Peter Siddle.
“That’s the longest boundary at the ground,” Brendon Julian said on Fox Cricket.

Matthew Gilkes (3), Rilee Rossouwwent (14) and Daniel Sams all fell cheaply as Henry Thornton (2-18) extended his strong start to the season.
Colin de Grandhomme (2-27) and Rashid Khan (1-25) also got among the wickets as Alex Ross and Nathan McAndrew finished the not out batsmen.
Julian declared on Fox Cricket the Strikers “did it easy” thanks to Short who is in a rich vein of form.
“The small run chases are normally the harder ones but we stuck to the game plan and we play really well here,” Short said on Fox Cricket.
“I did a lot of work on my game with Cameron White in recent years, I was getting off to flyers then giving my wicket away.
“Now if I do get through an early power play I take it easy a little bit and just get ones and twos and the occasional boundary.
“The short square boundary also really helps me here with some of my shots.”
