The Australian veteran is coming back to Taunton for a second season
Former Australia seamer Peter Siddle is returning to Somerset as an overseas player for the 2023 season.
The 38-year-old, who picked up 221 Test wickets in an 11-year international career, is set to represent the county in the County Championship and T20 Blast until the end of July.
He took 27 first-class wickets last summer for Somerset and a further 17 in the Blast as the club reached Finals Day before losing out to eventual champions Hampshire in the semi-finals.
“I was made to feel like a part of the family as soon as I arrived,” he said, “and I’m looking forward to joining up with the boys again in a few months’ time.”

Siddle, who has been captaining Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash, has been a regular in county cricket over the years, featuring for Nottinghamshire and Lancashire before spending three years with Essex, ending that relationship when he joined Somerset last year.
Siddle added: “I loved my time at Somerset last summer and when the opportunity to go back came about there was never any doubt that I would take it.”
Andy Hurry, the county’s director of cricket, described his all-round contribution in 2022 as “phenomenal”.
Hurry said: “He is a proven winner who will contribute significantly on the field, and with his vast experience will also play a huge role in the development of our aspiring bowlers.”
