'Conserving their strength': Putin believes he can 'outlast' Ukraine – Sky News Australia

The Russian military has been largely defensive for the past few months to “conserve their strength” and prepare for another offensive this year, according to former US Army vice chief of staff General Jack Keane.
“Where Putin and his mind is, a protracted war for sure cannot take over Ukraine in 2023 and he believes he can outlast the Ukrainians because he has more people, not necessarily more equipment,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
General Keane said the only way to “stop the killing” is for Ukraine to defeat the Russians inside their country.
“If they are not able to do that, then it is protracted for years and the suffering continues,” he added.
