Police searching for a man who went missing while swimming in Lake Eildon, in Victoria's Alpine region, have found a body.
A 34-year-old man was swimming with friends near Jerusalem Creek Track on New Year's Day when he appeared to get into difficulty and disappeared around 4:30pm.
The man's friends raised the alarm when he failed to resurface.
Police believe the body that has been found is that of the missing man.
Local police, with the assistance of police helicopters, water police and other emergency services, searched the lake and foreshore yesterday but suspended their search overnight due to weather conditions.
The search resumed this morning.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
