Australia is seeking to stabilise its relationship with China as Foreign Minister Penny Wong wraps up her trip to Beijing.
Exporters are hopeful the talks will translate to relief on $20 billion dollars of trade sanctions.
Ms Wong has left Beijing after historic talks with her counterpart Wang Yi.
Ms Wong sat down for a strategic dialogue lasting nearly two hours – the first time an Australian minister has been invited to China in more than three years.
There was no breakthrough, but both sides have agreed to expand high-level talks.
