Australian actress Cate Blanchett has described competition within the industry as a "patriarchal pyramid" in her Critics Choice acceptance speech.
Blanchett has taken out best actress for the upcoming drama musical "Tar", a week after taking home the same award at the Golden Globes.
She accused the industry of promoting a "televised horse race".
"It's like, what is this? It's this patriarchal pyramid where someone stands up here."
"Why don't we just say there is a whole raft of female performances that are in concert and in dialogue with one another," she says.
"And stop the televised horse race of it all because can I tell you every single woman with a television, film, advertising, tampon commercials, whatever, you're all out there doing amazing work that is inspiring me continually."
Brendan Fraser shared an emotional moment with the crowd when he took home the big award for best actor for his portrayal of Charlie in The Whale, accepting the award with tears in his eyes.
Comedy-drama Everything Everywhere All At Once was another big winner of the night, taking out best picture as its fifth award at the Critics Choice Awards.
Look back on our live updates of the winners as they were announced.
