The recently announced Men’s Under 19s Zonal Trials are now underway with five of the thirteen hubs that are being used for the first step on the pathway towards the 2023 U19 Nationals. Venues in Seattle, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Houston and New Jersey saw great turnouts this past weekend with spirited efforts from all of the players, selectors and administrators alike.
Almost 500 young cricketers from across the country are taking part in the trials in hopes of being selected to their respective Zonal Training Groups. The Zonal Training Groups will give players the opportunity to train together in regionalized hubs and develop all aspects of their game with USA Cricket support staff and structures. These are only the initial Training Groups and there will be the opportunity for further players to progress into the groups, where justified, as the national system continues to evolve and support the increased monitoring of performances across local leagues and other domestic cricket during the full calendar of cricket in 2023.
These trials are the first step on the pathway towards next year’s USA Cricket Men’s Under 19 National Championships, and then onto the critically important ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier which is scheduled for 2023 to decide the Americas representative at the 2024 edition of the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup.
USA Cricket are delighted to have the support of local facilities across the country to ensure that these trials have not only been possible, but also the extended network of USA Cricket Youth Volunteer Coordinators who have been incredible in their efforts in getting the logistics of these trials arranged. Our thanks to all involved.
